Pulmonary medicine encompasses the management of a wide variety of issues and disorders that may impact patients of all ages.
With a focus on evaluating and treating problems involving the lungs, bronchial tubes and upper respiratory tract, pulmonary medicine is the specialty that handles some of the more complex or chronic conditions of the airways. This includes a broad range of diseases, such as asthma, pneumonia, tuberculosis, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and complicated chest infections.
